The Society of the Precious Blood

Community Life

The common life is based on the fact that each Sister has been called by God to take her share in the vocation of the Society. The Sisters therefore seek to live together in charity and mutual acceptance, bearing one another's burdens and helping one another to fulfil their common vocation.

They are called to "spend and be spent" with joy in a common life of worship, thanksgiving and intercession, taking part with the whole Church in the prayer of Christ for the glory of God and the coming of his Kingdom.

Extracts from the Rule of the Society of the Precious Blood:

  • Each Sister is called to respond to the love of Jesus by surrendering to Him their whole being that He may take them and bless them and use them according to the Father's will.
  • They desire to be one with Him in His total dependence on the Father, humbly trusting that their needs will be supplied.
  • They choose within the life of this Community to surrender their wills to God in love in the encounter with Christ in each other.
  • It is only the love of God for us that makes this life possible.
